Irish data science startup Aylien raises €2 million

Aylien, a data science startup based in Ireland, has raised €2 million in funding led by Atlantic Bridge University Fund, the €60 million investment fund backed by the European Investment Fund. Previous investors SOSV and Enterprise Ireland also participated in the round.

Aylien develops AI and machine learning solutions for natural language processing and analysing large amounts of data. It counts Sony, Microsoft, and Deloitte among its clients.

The funds will be further invested in product development and internationalisation. The company plans to hire 70 new people, in roles like software engineering and product management, at its Dublin office and will also begin building its team in the US.

Aylien was founded by Iranian Parsa Ghaffari who relocated to Ireland through the Start Up Entrepreneur Programme by Enterprise Ireland, one of the company’s investors.
