Finnish messaging startup Jongla raises €5 million for expansion in emerging markets

Jongla, a Finnish messaging startup, raised €5 million in a Series B round to scale the business globally, strengthen its presence in emerging markets such as Africa, and innovate with technologies such as AI.

Investors included founder Arto Boman, Henry Sjöman, Matti Kallio, Gustav Nyberg, Kristian Pentti, Circlion Capital, Kontino Invest, Takoa Invest, Ingman Finance and JSH Capital.

The company was founded in 2012 has raised €12 million to date. It specializes in device and platform-independent mobile messaging. Earlier this year, the company launched Jongla Social Messenger in Africa, which allows users to chat with interesting people nearby.

The company plans to release a second app with voice dictation and smart audio processing.
