UK-based rapid diagnostics and technology provider Mologic has received a grant for $4.8 million from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Founded in 2003 in Thurleigh, UK, Mologic develops rapid point-of-care diagnostic devices and technology.
According to GEN, the company, led by CSO Paul Davis and CEO Mark Davis, says the basic technology of rapid diagnostic testing has changed little since its invention in the mid-1980s.
Mologic plans to use the grant to found the Centre for Advanced Rapid Diagnostics (CARD), whose objective will be to create rapid diagnostic testing technology for the detection of protein biomarkers at the point of care.
“We are delighted to spearhead this bold new venture and consider it a privilege to be selected as the core team to deliver radical new diagnostic technology to the neediest people of the world,” Davis told GEN.
