Irish data intelligence startup Siren raises €3 million

Siren, a data intelligence company, has raised €3 million in seed funding led by Atlantic Bridge University Fund and has appointed a new CEO, John Randles.

Galway-based Siren has a developed data intelligence and investigation platform for managing large amounts of business data together with research from the National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG).

“Our unique semantic approach enables fast responses to complex data investigation challenges. Our initial focus has been on working with national security services and police, where the mission critical investigation of data is often done under intense time pressure,” said Giovanni Tummarello, chief product officer and founder.

“These capabilities have not previously been readily accessible in other sectors but we are now working with some of the largest financial and life sciences organisations to enable cross-dataset real time investigation,” he said. The company will now be targeting its services at the fintech and life sciences sectors.

New CEO John Randles (pictured) is the former head of Bloomberg-acquired PolarLake, a data management firm, and former CTO at Siebel Systems overseeing banking operations.

“Data is becoming a recognised asset in every firm in every industry but there is widespread frustration when it comes to solving problems with data. Siren’s data investigation capability meets that need in a way I have never seen in 20 years in the industry,” commented Randles.
