Startup Sesame has launched a new programme for mobility startups that connects entrepreneurs with major tech events and networking opportunities.

Attending tech events is costly for young startups with tight budgets but at the same time, entrepreneurs need to boost their visibility as much as possible.

Startup Sesame is trying to help with that. Successful applicants to the programme will avail of its partnerships with several major tech events and conferences around Europe, including Pioneers Festival, Slush and the Mondial de l’Automobile (Paris Motor Show), among others.

There are several mentors involved with the Mobility programme as well such as Kat Borlongan, cofounder of Five by Five; Julie Mossler, head of communications at Waze; and Ethan Pierse, managing director of Nest Ventures.

The first stop for Startup Sesame Mobility is the Mondial de l’Automobile in Paris on October 5. Eight finalists will be chosen by Startup Sesame’s partners to host a pitching session at the show’s Innovation Forum. A jury, which includes special guest keynote speaker Bibop Gresta, COO of Hyperloop Transportation Technologies, will select three winners to take part in Startup Sesame Mobility.

“I’m thrilled to take part in the inaugural edition and look forward to meeting with innovators and leaders who are shaping the future of transportation,” said Gresta.

The three winners from the day will then join the program for one year, attending several events around the world at no cost, with access to discounted exhibit booths and speaking engagements. Networking opportunities with Startup Sesame’s mentors and partners will help budding mobility startups connect with the right people to seek investment and grow internationally.

The theme of Startup Sesame Mobility centres on transportation and mobility, which is a wide remit that includes sectors like autonomous vehicles, the Internet of Things, the sharing economy and communications. Crucially, the programme is looking for a startup that has a solution to a big mobility problem.

Startups, whether they are B2C or B2B, from anywhere in the world are eligible to apply but will need to have had some prior experience in attending and pitching at tech events. Applicants will also need to have a working beta and be on the hunt for funding.

Startup Sesame will take no equity in the startups that participate.
