Semiconductor research and IP development company AccelerComm, a Southampton University spinout, has secured £5.8 million Series A funding from IQ Capital and prior backers Bloc Ventures and IP Group to scale its IP tech business.
The startup self-reportedly helps telcos, equipment vendors and OEMs 'supercharge 5G, satellite and other wireless communications' with digital signal processing IP that increases spectrum efficiency whilst reducing latency.
AccelerComm’s channel coding IP is used to correct transmission errors in mobile, small cell and satellite communications caused by noise, interference and poor signal strength. This technology is optimised for the specific needs of cellular and satellite communications, it says.
The company was started by University of Southampton professor Rob Maunder back in 2016.
