Smart buildings software Metrikus completes Series A funding, plans to open in Japan and South Korea

London-based proptech startup Metrikus has announced the completion of a Series A round, doubling the company’s total funding to £5 million since it was founded in May 2019. RentaMarkets, a Spanish independent financial services group, acted as the underwriter for itself and on behalf of several other private investors.

Metrikus provides a smart-buildings software platform that gives owners and occupiers a secure, ‘single-pane-of-glass’ view of the operation and performance of their building. Managers can plug in any type of sensor to monitor everything from footfall and energy use to indoor air quality. In the coronavirus era, the software allows owners and operators of office buildings to facilitate safe and healthy back-to-work strategies, says the startup.

There are new business opportunities on the horizon across Europe and abroad, thanks to the network of investments channelled via RentaMarkets. The new funding (and attendant connections) will fuel expansion in the US and India, and also help launch the business in Japan and South Korea.
