Stockholm’s digital healthcare platform Doktor.se raises €50 million, eyes IPO early 2022

Stockholm-based digital healthcare platform Doktor.se has raised €50 million in a new investment round that saw participation from Consensus Asset Management, Norron, and Skabholmen Invest, as well as other undisclosed institutional investors. As part of the deal, existing early investor Oriola Corporation has agreed to sell a portion of their shares to facilitate the raise. Oriola remains one of the company’s largest shareholders.

In addition to the new funding being used to further flesh out the platform’s offering, particularly in regards to mental health and chronic illness support, Doktor.se is reporting that an aggressive series of acquisitions and digitisation of physical clinics are planned.

Although not mentioned in the press release, according to di.se, the company is also eyeing an IPO in Q1 of 2022, "Our ambition is to carry out a listing during the first quarter of 2022," says CEO and founder Martin Lindman.

Founded in 2016 Doktor.se is the second most downloaded doctor app in Europe according to Appfigures, a number which places it above competitor Kry. Over the course of 2020, Doktor.se provided over 1.2 million patient consultations via their countrywide physical locations and globally available app.

The telemedicine service is used by veterinary care chain AniCura across the Nordics, in Belgium, in partnership with telecommunications group Proximus, and in Brazil via digital healthcare provider ViBE.

“By making the first contact with patients digital, we save time and resources for the individual and our society at large. More patients receive care faster, while traditional healthcare is relieved,” comments Lindman. “This frees up resources for patients who really need physical appointments. That is why we are so proud to offer this combination of physical and digital healthcare to people and where we believe we can really make a difference.”
