Digitising reservation at restaurants, CoverManager devours €35 million

Waiting in queue for a table at the most talked-about Michelin restaurant isn’t exactly how you would want to spend an evening. That’s set to change now. The world of gastronomy is becoming a tad more accessible.

On the menu is Sevilla-based CoverManager. The startup, which is digitising the reservation management of more than 100 Michelin restaurants, has raised €35 million in funding. The SaaS company is now valued at €150 million.

The Spanish firm founded by José Antonio Pérez Moral and Carlos Pérez Fernández is being used by more than 6,000 restaurants in 25 countries. It manages restaurant reservations on a platform that optimises table use, and improves management of booking confirmation and cancellations.

The funding will allow the company to expand further and roll out new products to help drive revenue and allow restaurants to deliver food without going through third party platforms.

The round saw the participation of angel investors, including Félix Ruiz (Playtomic, JobandTalent, Tuenti or Auro), Paco Ávila (Medac), Javier Gutiérrez (Grupo Dani García) and Fernando Martínez (Alia Capital Partners).

CoverManager CEO José Antonio Pérez said: “We aim to provide our partner restaurants with the technology they need to improve profitability and to be closer to their customers. It moves us to position Spain as a source and export technology for the catering industry to any corner of the world.”
