Berlin-based RV-sharing platform PaulCamper raises €7 million for further expansion

PaulCamper, a sharing platform for renting and lending RVs, has closed a Series A financing round of €7 million. The round was led by Adevinta with participation from FJ Labs and All Iron Ventures as well as existing investors Russmedia International and MAIRDUMONT VENTURES.

RV owners can rent out their motorhomes, trailers, and campervans on PaulCamper. That means a certain level of personal freedom for all outdoor fans without an own vehicle to experience this way of travelling. With sharing business models as a way of exploiting under-utilised capacity on the rise, PaulCamper seems to play exactly to these trends.

"PaulCamper operates in a very exciting and fast-growing market: the outdoor travel market," says Jussi Lystimäki, VP of ventures at lead investor Adevinta (formerly Schibsted Marketplaces). With investments in 16 countries throughout Europe, Latin America and North Africa, Norwegian investor Adevinta will contribute its experience in the development and expansion of digital marketplaces.

Founded in 2013, PaulCamper today has a fleet of more than 5,500 RVs in Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands. The renters come from all over the world with over 500,000 rental nights already arranged via the platform.

“Our vision and mission is to enable people to spend time in the outdoors, made easy and safe,” says PaulCamper founder Dirk Fehse. “With the capital and expertise of our international investors we will tackle our goal of market expansion, further emotionalising our product, and consolidating our leading position in our home market Germany.”
