Kenbi, a German startup that’s developing software to help nurses and fill gaps in the healthcare system, has raised €7 million in seed funding. The round was led by Redalpine, with existing investors Heartcore, e.ventures, and Partech on board as well.
With a predicted shortage of up to 500,000 caregivers in the German system by 2030, the Berlin-based startup is on a mission to attract more people to the nursing profession by improving the job itself, re-centering patient care. Kenbi helps organise local ‘care teams’ that provide outpatient, at-home services, including some care covered by medical insurance, household help, advice and companionship. Through a proprietary app and tech stack, Kenbi says it cuts time spent on unnecessary bureaucratic tasks by up to 20 percent.
Founded in fall 2019, the company currently reaches about 400 patients across Germany. The plan is to continue developing the product (both the patient-facing side as well as the staff management app) and attract more nursing professionals to the network.
