London-based online takeout company Just Eat has acquired its former competitor Hungryhouse from Delivery Hero for £200 million.

Founded in 2001, Just Eat is an international food delivery service with target markets in Spain, Mexico, Italy, Belgium, and the Netherlands.

The company intends to use the funding to grow its customer base and expand the number of restaurants available through the service.

“The UK has long been an engine of growth for Just Eat. While we have significantly expanded internationally in recent years, we have remained focused on building a high growth, sustainably profitable business domestically. Through this transaction, we would extend our market presence in the UK and sustain high levels of growth given the considerable opportunity in this market," CEO David Butress said in a statement quoted by Tech City News.
