Spanish voice assistant startup Sherpa.ai raises $8.5 million

Bilbao-based conversational AI startup Sherpa.ai has landed an $8.5 million funding round led by Mundi Ventures, with participation from the chairman and CEO of British Airways, Alex Cruz. The company plans to use the capital to continue developing its Spanish-language voice assistant tech and expects to raise more funding later this year.

Sherpa's conversational AI platform “is designed for manufacturers of consumer products like cars, intelligent headphones, home speakers, appliances, and electronic accessories,” the company stated in a press release. Sherpa.ai has already partnered with Samsung and Porsche and mentioned that more partnerships with “multinational companies” will be announced in the coming months.
