There are tons of tech events in Europe happening throughout the year (check out our comprehensive calendar for the first half of 2015), but who are the best technology speakers from this part of the world?

Well, Bizzabo, a company that helps organisers with the community-building and networking aspects of physical events, has curated a list of Europe’s top technology speakers, based on its experience working with more than 4,000 professional conferences and events across the globe.

I can think of a few names that should probably be on this list (Sir Tim-Berners-Lee, Maelle Gavet, Saul Klein, Martin Varsavsky and Brent Hoberman spring to mind) but it’s not a bad list to start with.

In no particular ranking, here are the top 10 European tech speakers, according to Bizzabo:

Mikkel Svane (CEO of Zendesk)

Morten Lund – Chairman at Tradeshift

Tine Thygesen – (now ex-)CEO of Everplaces

Paddy Cosgrave – Founder of Websummit

Nick Robertson – CEO of ASOS

Riccardo Zacconi – CEO of

Daniel Ek – CEO of Spotify

Dave Lewis – CEO of Tesco

Peter Arvai – CEO of Prezi

Dana Tobak – Managing Director and Co-founder of Hyperoptic

Who would you add to (or remove from) Bizzabo’s list?

  • Depends on definition of, ‘best’. Most entertaining, highest achieving, most helpful in offering useful, actionable ideas for startup CEOs, same for scale – ups, best sound-bites, most controversial?

    • abarrera

I have to agree here. What’s the benchmark? Without a consistent benchmark, it’s just a fun exercise and not something really useful. More like a Christmas list than something useful for conference organizers.

      • ivospigel

Hey nothing wrong with “just fun” from time to time, let’s not turn this into scientific analysis ๐Ÿ˜‰

        • abarrera

haha true, but I kind of fancy the idea of having an official list scored by different criteria ๐Ÿ˜‰ That would rock!

    • Explanation from Bizzabo:

โ€œWe dug into our speaker popularity metrics database of more than 4,000 conferences (including hundreds of tech events), and asked event organizers for their dream team of speakers. This is an impartial list of many great rising speakers in the European tech community.โ€

  • Johann Q

Problem with these “top speakers”: Once you have seen them speak once or twice, usually you do not need to see them again, at least for the next two years. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • Jacob Vahr Svenningsen

I feel the opposite. A good thing is that they always have new seeds that we havent seen or heard before…

  • I like that there are many Scandinavians in there :) I agree with Morten Lund being on the list – to really get the most out of his speeches, you have to watch them a few times.
