Maplink, which specialises in logistics and geolocation technology, said it will now assume Optilogistic’s more than 60 customers in Europe, North America, Latin America, and Africa. A spokesperson for the two companies told tech.eu that the acquisition and investment in further expansion is worth R$20 million, or about €5.6 million.
According to the companies’ announcement, there is growing demand for on-demand logistics as well as SaaS and they expect the global 3rd party logistics (3PL) market to hit $1 trillion by 2022.
“Logistics costs represent 12% of world GDP. In Brazil, this value is equivalent to 17% of GDP. The acquisition will benefit our customers in terms of process efficiency and productivity, as we will be even more prepared to meet the growing market for on-demand logistics,” said Frederico Hohagen, CEO of Maplink. “This acquisition furthers our goals of providing efficient and sophisticated solutions to our customers.”
Optilogistic, founded in 1992 and based in Les Ponts-de-Cé, will absorb its staff of 34 into the Maplink team.
Maplink added that 30% of its revenue is outside of its native Brazil and with the acquisition of Optilogistic this will reach over 50% in the future.
