Finnish Mobidiag, a molecular diagnostics company, has raised €3.99 million, supported by the Finnish investment service company Kansalaisrahoitus Oy, with the financing coming from over 300 investors. This comes in addition to a €15 million loan that the company received from the European Investment Bank.

Mobidiag provides solutions for the diagnosis of infectious diseases, so that doctors can more quickly and reliably determine the type of infection, and the appropriate treatment for patients. The company has experience in the detection of gastrointestinal infections and multi-drug resistant organisms, also known as superbugs, and is currently developing products that can simultaneously detect panels of bacteria, viruses or parasites.

“We were very happy with the share issue organised by Kansalaisrahoitus, which was achieved very professionally and fast”, said Tuomas Tenkanen, CEO of Mobidiag, in a statement.

“We were privileged to participate in the financing of a very promising and fast growing company that aims to improve healthcare quality and people´s health”, added Toni Lahti, CEO of Kansalaisrahoitus.

With the new funding, the company intends to scale up its product manufacturing and strengthen its sales and marketing activities.
