Berlin-based HRtech startup HiPeople has raised $3 million to develop its recruitment tool, reeling in investment from ex-Atomico co-founder Mattias Ljungman’s Moonfire, Capnamic Ventures and Cherry Ventures. The seed funding follows a $1.1 million pre-seed in late 2019.
HiPeople is helping recruiters go beyond the CV by automating candidate reference checks, from request to analysis, offering a more holistic view into the applicant. “Reference checks allow you to dive deeper into the candidate’s past performance and experience, and make it easy to understand whether she fits the job you are trying to fill,” said co-founder Jakob Gillmann. “They allow you to verify whether the shiny CV is really so shiny,” he added. Launched in early 2020, the SaaS platform already has some customers on board, including fintech company SumUp (which is always growing), Kleiner Perkins’s Prisma (which landed a $12 million Series A last year), content management system GraphCMS, and data mining unicorn Celonis.
