Austria’s e-mobility technology provider has.to.be acquired by ChargePoint for €250 million

Salzburg-based EV charging platform has.to.be has been acquired by North American firm ChargePoint for a total purchase price of approximately €250 Million. The transaction currency will consist of cash and stock and is expected to close this year, subject, of course, to customary regulatory approvals.

The 125 strong Austro/German has.to.be team, as well as the 40,000+ networked ports and over 250,000 networked ports through open roaming agreements will change hands at the completion of the acquisition.

ChargePoint stands to gain a significant boost in the European market, as in addition to the charge ports mentioned above, has.to.be includes a customer base of over 1,000 customers in a diverse lineup of industries including automotive and fleet to oil and gas and energy. The firm services leading brands including Aral, Audi, GP Joule, Ionity and Porsche.

Co-founder and CEO Martin Klässner commented, ““Over the past eight years, our talented team has helped lead e-mobility in Europe and attracted a large base of leading brands as customers who rely on our charging software platform every day to meet their technical requirements. Together with the resources of ChargePoint, we will continue in this spirit and achieve even greater scale as the market continues to expand.”
