Eyeing advances in underserved markets, Startup Wise Guys aims to raise €45 million and takes down €25 million early

Fresh from executing 120 early-stage deals last year, Startup Wise Guys is shifting the dial to address underserved geographies, from CEE to sub-Saharan Africa. It's recently pulled in €25 million toward a €45 million call for its accelerator fund and promises at least 200 startups will benefit.

To begin with, the Wise Guys will manifest expansion around Europe, Africa and Latin America building on last year's roll out in two southern European locations: Italy and Spain.

Startup Wise Guys' track record so far includes an XR accelerator in Spain and what is billed as the African startup ecosystem's first ever B2B digital SaaS programme.

The group's inspiration stemmed from the height of Estonia's startup boom and its global operation is still helmed from Harju's CBD district.

Zane Bojāre, head of brand at Startup Wise Guys, said: "As we have expanded far beyond Estonia's borders, we felt it was time to update our brand to reflect our international presence and global vision for the future.

"The new logo has a lot to unpack. It better reflects our personality, which is human and approachable, while still maintaining recognition of our name.

"We are bringing the focus back to the human founders by transitioning to a funky, welcoming, smiley face. We want founders from all over to feel identified with our mission of supporting passionate founders.”
