Finnish climate action plan platform Kausal has raised €880,000 in a Seed funding round which includes investment from Innovestor and Zubi Capital. The funding will increase sales and marketing efforts in the DACH region and North America.

The startup provides climate action plan information for cities and governments, and its platform details impact assessment of policy measures and supporting decision-making.

Recognising that cities account for over 70 percent of global CO2 emissions, Kausal was founded in 2020 by Sonja-Maria Ignatius, Juha Yrjölä, Jouni Tuomisto, and Tero Tikkanen - the team developed the tools for city officials to be transparent and deliver accurate information on sustainability projects.

“We want to bring everyone involved to the same page for accountable, effective and data-based decision-making,” says Ignatius.

The platform gives city governments the tools to set sustainability targets, and build actionable plans, enabling both administrators and citizens to stay on track of progress.

“Kausal's diverse clientele, spanning cities and governments worldwide, actively strives to reduce carbon emissions and enhance climate resilience. Kausal’s platform not only aids its clients in achieving their climate objectives but also has the potential to support a wider range of sustainability goals,” says Myron Seto, Partner at Innovestor.
