One Click LCA acquires ENVI-met

ENVI-met enables architects, urban planners, and developers to adapt cities to increasing urban heat and build more livable cities.
One Click LCA acquires ENVI-met

One Click LCA, a provider of construction and manufacturing sustainability software, announces its acquisition of ENVI-met, the world’s premier microclimate simulation software. The strategic acquisition combines One Click LCA's comprehensive environmental impact assessments with ENVI-met's advanced urban climate modeling, creating a powerhouse solution for decarbonization and climate-adaptive urban design.

Founded in 2014 by Dr. Michael Bruse and Daniela Bruse, the company’s 3D modeling software enables urban planners, architects, and developers worldwide to design cities that prioritize liveability, heat resilience, and human comfort.

According to the United Nations Environment Programme, the world’s cities are heating up at twice the global average rate due to the urban heat island effect — with 1.6 billion city residents facing extreme heat, health, and economic impact by 2050. In the United States alone, extreme heat already costs the economy $100 billion annually and is projected to increase to $500 billion by 2050.

Glass surfaces and heat-trapping materials like asphalt, concrete, and steel create urban heat waves, leading to increasing heat stress. This is a vital challenge for urban planners, developers, and architects. ENVI-met from One Click LCA equips architects, urban planners, and developers with unmatched tools to design more livable, heat-resistant, and climate-resilient urban environments.

ENVI-met's 3D modeling software simulates how buildings, vegetation, and materials interact with natural elements like wind and sunlight. This technology provides detailed insights into the microclimatic effects of urban design choices.

CEO & Founder of One Click LCA, Panu Pasanen, said: “ENVI-met is the undisputed leader in microclimate simulation, established through scientific rigor and innovation to create better urban environments. Together with ENVI-met we bring our clients advanced capabilities to address climate resilience.  By integrating ENVI-met's powerful microclimate simulation tools with One Click LCA's existing sustainability platform, we offer urban planners, architects, and developers a novel toolkit to create more sustainable, resilient, and healthy urban spaces.”

CEO & Co-founder of ENVI-met, Daniela Bruse, says: “This collaboration unites two visionary approaches to addressing climate change in cities. By combining ENVI-met’s environmental simulations with One Click LCA’s life-cycle assessment tools, we’re setting a new standard in sustainable urban planning. Our customers will now have the tools to improve thermal comfort, reduce urban heat, and lower the carbon footprint of entire neighborhoods, helping cities adapt to climate change.”
