Swedish plant milk company Sproud today announced that award-winning British television presenter and entrepreneur Maya Jama has become an investor and co-owner of the brand.

Sproud develops plant-based dairy products that contain proteins derived from yellow-split peas. It’s low in sugar, high in protein, and has zero allergens, according to the company, with a nutritional profile better than other plant-based milks and a low carbon impact..

Jama is a broadcaster, entrepreneur, two-time British Vogue cover star, host of last year’s Fashion Awards, and this year’s BRIT Awards 2024. She will be the face of Sproud and a strategic advisor as the brand continues its rapid growth, with consumers increasingly moving away from both dairy and oat milk alternatives.

Maya Jama says:

"I'm really excited to become a co-owner of Sproud. There's a lot to love - the products taste amazing, and the packaging is eye-catching, too, but ultimately I like what the company stands for in terms of health and sustainability."

Sproud’s CEO Sara Berger says:

“Our aim is to significantly increase Sproud’s brand awareness in the UK and beyond. Maya will help us further normalise plant-based choices for everyone – whether in the supermarket aisle or at the coffee shop counter.”

Sproud is currently available at Waitrose, Ocado, and Amazon. It is also the preferred milk alternative at Joe & The Juice.
