Agritech Collie secures €3.5M Seed investment for digital livestock management

Collie, a Dutch livestock management startup, has raised a €3.5M Seed round from deeptech investor Freigeist Capital. Collie provides a digital livestock management solution using a specialized collar and an accompanying app. The system allows farmers to create virtual fences and guide their herds remotely, replacing the need for physical fencing. The collar communicates with the animals through beeps and vibrations to keep them within designated grazing areas.

The technology is designed to help farmers optimize grazing practices, potentially saving time and reducing costs. The system also supports rotational grazing, which can contribute to pasture management and soil health. Additionally, increased outdoor grazing may lead to changes in nitrogen emissions and animal well-being. Farmers using the system have reported benefits such as cost savings on feed, reduced time spent on herding, and increased grass production.

The Collie app enables remote monitoring and management of livestock, providing flexibility in farm operations. “Collie‘s intelligent collars and app allow farmers to guide their herds effortlessly, using just their phone.” said Daniel, Co-Founder of Collie.

“This reduces labor, cuts costs, and boosts productivity while improving soil health, biodiversity, and animal wellbeing, which is essential for the future of agriculture in Europe.”

“Collie combines the best of deep tech innovation with a practical solution to one of agriculture’s greatest challenges— balancing efficiency, sustainability, and animal welfare,” added Frank Thelen, CEO of Freigeist Capital.

“We believe this technology will become a cornerstone of modern farming practices, particularly in Europe, where sustainability is a key priority.”
