Endra launches Power Studio and acquires Planlabs to expand into mechanical engineering

Endra, a platform developing AI tools for mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) engineering, has launched Endra Power Studio, an agentic platform designed specifically for electrical engineering. The company has also acquired Swiss AI research company Planlabs to support its expansion into mechanical engineering.

Power Studio brings electrical design, calculations, simulation and documentation into a single system. Engineers set project requirements, delegate tasks to AI agents and review their work throughout the process.

The platform is designed to replace fragmented MEP workflows that rely on multiple tools for calculations, system design and documentation. According to Endra, it can complete the electrical design of a 500,000-square-foot commercial building in less than a day, compared with around two months using traditional processes.

Power Studio includes Playbooks for applying firms' engineering standards across workflows, AI agents for tasks such as routing and unit placement, and a physics engine for checking designs against physical constraints and building codes. Its Type Rooms feature allows a single room design to be applied across matching rooms in a building.

Endra takes care of the repetitive work, and gives the engineers back the time for judgment and design. A firm's engineering judgment is its product, and Playbooks let a firm hold that as a standard its whole team designs against, with the engineer setting the requirements and signing off at every stage,

The platform's document engine can generate outputs including Revit models, single-line diagrams, shop drawings, panelboard schedules and bills of materials, keeping documentation connected to the underlying design. Endra says engineers retain control of the process and that customer data is not used to train its models.

Expanding into mechanical engineering

The Planlabs acquisition extends Endra's technology roadmap into mechanical engineering. Founded in Switzerland in 2024, Planlabs develops AI technology that uses geometry, data and physics engines to automate building system design. Its five-person team will join Endra, with the technology set to support the company's mechanical engineering capabilities following integration. Endra also plans to introduce a plumbing module in 2027.

Rea Sodero, co-founder and CEO of Planlabs, said the company was founded around the idea that mechanical engineering could be approached differently, using automation to generate coordinated, collision-free systems while engineers retain control.

The Power Studio launch and Planlabs acquisition follow a $50 million Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz, with earlier backing from Notion Capital and Norrsken VC.
