London traveltech Stasher secures £3M for global expansion

London-founded traveltech company Stasher has secured £3 million in new funding to expand its global luggage storage marketplace and smart locker network. The funding comprises approximately £2 million in growth financing from growth lender Gilion and a £1 million strategic investment from smart locker provider Hive Box.

Founded in London in 2015 by Jacob Wedderburn-Day and Anthony Collias, Stasher operates a marketplace connecting travellers looking for luggage storage with hotels and local businesses that have available secure space.

The company's network now spans more than 10,000 locations across more than 1,200 cities worldwide. Stasher is expanding its original marketplace model by adding dedicated smart lockers to its network.

As part of its strategic partnership with Hive Box, Stasher will receive an initial 100 smart lockers for deployment across the UK and Europe by mid-2027. The lockers are manufactured by Hive Box, with its hardware, IoT platform and remote-management technology integrated with Stasher's booking platform.

Stasher plans to use more than a decade of booking and search data from its platform to determine where to deploy additional lockers. This includes identifying areas where travellers are already searching for luggage storage, existing locations are reaching capacity, or demand continues outside staffed opening hours.

Commenting on the investment round, Jacob Wedderburn-Day, CEO and co-founder of Stasher, said:

The company plans to expand its smart locker network across accommodation and other high-footfall locations in the travel journey, including transport hubs, visitor attractions and major leisure destinations across the UK and Europe.
