AppGyver, a Finnish software for app development and programming tools, has raised €2 million in a round co-led by Karma Ventures and OpenOcean, joined by several angel investors. The new funding will help develop the startup’s new platform, Composer Pro, and scale the business internationally.

Composer Pro is a no-code visual platform, where users can craft a professional-grade app with simply drag and drop. Not just the user interface, but also app logic, access to native APIs, user authentication, and backend integrations can all be configured without a line of code.

“We spent four years painstakingly developing Composer Pro and battle-testing it with global enterprises to ensure that our visual drag and drop platform produces high-quality, professional apps that are indistinguishable from native apps,” said Marko Lehtimäki, the startup’s CEO.

The enterprise offering, AppGyver Black, has a customized pricing plan with added bells and whistles, but Composer Pro is free for solo developers and small companies with under $10 million annual revenue. As with many developer tools, the goal is to build an active community around the platform.

“The only way to make visual development truly challenge traditional programming was to build a global community around it. That’s why we made Composer Pro free for indie use, welcoming everyone to join us on the mission,” added Lehtimäki. “We believe we can reach 1 million developers within two years.”

Today the number stands at 300,000, according to a press release. Meanwhile the Helsinki-based startup’s enterprise portfolio includes DHL, Fingrid and Genelec. The company was founded in 2010 in Helsinki and has since opened an office in San Francisco, raising a total of €10 million along the way.
