London’s Dawn Capital has announced two internal promotions, Mina Mutafchieva to Partner, and Dan Chaplin to Principal. With Mina’s appointment, she now joins Evgenia Plotnikova as the second female partner (of five) at Dawn.
Joining Dawn in September of 2019 as Senior Principal, Mina has primarily been responsible for the firms' Nordic portfolio investments, as well as a number of fintech and future of work deals across Europe. She took lead on Dawn’s investments in Eigen Technologies, AccessFintech, LeanIX, and CluedIn.
Prior to Dawn, Mina honed her craft with McKinsey, leading projects on strategy and commercial excellence for a number of financial institutions across Europe. During her time with Palamon Capital Partners, she worked on mid-to-late stage growth ops in financial and tech-enabled services.
Working diligently on Dawn’s fintech and infrastructure portfolio, Dan Chaplin has been promoted to Principal. Dan’s work with Dawn includes sourcing and board support for a number of Dawn’s investments including Tink, Copper, Harbr, and OpenGamma. He also worked alongside Mina on the Eigen Technologies, AccessFintech, and CluedIn deals.
Before joining Dawn, Dan served as a corporate finance advisor ad J.P. Morgan.
“Mina has been an important and effective agent for long-lasting change and success at Dawn. She has enhanced our relationships with other VCs and founders, refined our internal processes, and supported us to develop and build our team,” commented Partner Evgenia Plotnikova. “With these impactful improvements, she has helped take us to the next level as a firm and partner for our founders. All while finding some of the most exciting early-stage B2B businesses across the Nordics, the UK, and beyond. As a colleague and friend, I could not be prouder to have her as my Partner.”
