Spain's Further merges with Trustedoctor to provide global digital insurance for the seriously ill

On a mission to provide affordable healthcare to patients with serious illnesses, Spanish global insurance provider Further has merged with UK-based digital platform Trustedoctor. The merged company, Further Group, will provide a ‘holistic’ digital health insurance without any geographical restrictions, according to a press release. Founded in 2016 by three guys from Poland and one from Switzerland, the London-based startup has built an online platform to connect seriously ill patients with specialists in areas such as oncology and cardiology. The platform, which allows for secure video consultations and file transfers, is available in eight languages, including Chinese and Arabic. Headquartered in Madrid, Further already has a presence in over 30 countries in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Frank Ahedo, current CEO of Further, will be the CEO of the new combined company. Greg Jarzabek will remain CEO of Trustedoctor and also become Chief Digital Officer of Further Group, focussing on further development of virtual healthcare infrastructure. Other details of the deal were not disclosed.
