German startup data Artisans sells to Alibaba for €90 million

Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group has reportedly acquired Berlin-based data Artisans. According to Deutsche Startups, the price of the deal was set at €90 million. The German company did not comment on the exit.

Founded in 2014 by the creators of the open-source stream processing framework Apache Flink, data Artisans uses it to deploy large-scale data processing solutions for enterprises. Its dA Platform, which consists of Apache Flink and dA Application Manager, “includes ready-to-go integrations with container orchestration, CI/CD, logging, metrics, and state storage and provides companies with a singular view of all of their stream processing applications,” the startup states on its website.

data Artisans has raised €6.5 million in funding so far and lists Alibaba, ING, Netflix, and Uber among its clients.
