Today is International Women’s Day and non-profit Inspiring Fifty has published its 50 most inspiring women in European technology in 2017.

Latest research shows that girls lack female roles models in STEM. This is all the more reason to highlight female role models in the tech sector to inspire girls to pursue STEM careers.

This year’s 50 includes some very familiar faces like Passion Capital’s Eileen Burbidge, Dr Sue Black, and former EU commissioner turned startup board member for Uber and Salesforce, Neelie Kroes, alongside several emerging names in the industry.

Sukhinder Singh Cassidy, founder of theBoardlist, was one of the judges and commented, “theBoardlist and Inspiring Fifty share a common goal: to improve corporate performance by increasing diversity in technology.

“Bringing diverse points of view and experiences to companies from the outset drives higher-performing and productive cultures in the board room and executive suites now, not later. It's been inspiring to learn about so many incredible women in technology in Europe — not only are they terrific role models, but they would be great board members and advisors for tech companies of all stages."
