Swedish fintech firm iZettle turns five years old, launches new card reader, features and pricing

Stockholm-based mobile payments company iZettle is celebrating five years in business by unveiling a new card reader, new features and pricing.

It is launching the new iZettle Reader, which the company claims allows small businesses to accept credit card and contactless payments faster than before.

The company is also backing up its “more you sell, less you pay” model for transactions with fees going as low as 1% and launching a new service called Customers that gathers customer data like email addresses to build marketing campaigns for the future.

According to iZettle, the new Reader and Customer features are available from today while the new pricing went into effect on June 1 but there may be different pricings for each country.

iZettle’s service has helped users grow their business every year by more than five times the European average, said CEO Jacob de Geer. The company added that it is seeing 1,000 new businesses join its service every day.

“Whether we’re providing your business with capital, lowering your costs or building smart new tools that help you stay in touch with customers, it all comes down to helping you work less, earn more and live better," said de Geer.
