Estonian short-term job search platform Jobbatical has raised $1 million from Australian VC firm AirTree. The platform allows job seekers in tech-related fields to find placements in startups and established software companies throughout the world.

The idea behind Jobattical is that everyone should have the opportunity to work abroad at least once in their lives to get a fresh perspective.

The startup says that rather than the typical 10-12% of an employee's salary the typical recruiter charges if a job seeker is placed, Jobbatical charges firms an upfront fee of 2% per job advertisement. The company also helps workers with visa and relocation services. Over 1,000 workers have already been placed through the platform, according to the company, with Malaysia being the premier destination.

AirTree hopes that Jobbatical will help Australian address its tech talent shortage.

Jobbatical was started in Tallinn, Estonia in March 2014. So far the company has attracted nearly $4 million in funding from VCs and business angels.
