London-based data extraction platform Kleene raises $1.5 million

SaaS data pipelining for scale-ups platform kleene has raised $1.5 million in their first funding round.

Led by Episode 1, the round also saw participation from Superseed and unnamed angel investors.

The capital is expected to be put towards expanding the team, delivering on the product road map (support for Microsoft’s Azure Synapse Analytics and Google’s BigQuery), and expand the existing array of data connectors.

Founded in 2017, by ex-JustEat members Andrew Thomas and Matt Sawyer, duo realised that massive amounts of time and money were being wasted through the preparation of data for analysis. Enter kleene.ai; offering customers the ability to bypass the hiring of data engineers, saving companies $50,000-$80,000 per year on average, and accelerating a company’s speed to insight by 10x.

“kleene is a brilliant solution allowing the data analysts to build and maintain their own data warehouse from their company's many sources of data. Analysts can then focus their time on finding insights to transform the fortunes of their companies,” comments Episode 1 Partner Simon Murdoch.
