Musixmatch hits 50 million downloads for its song lyrics apps, launches Spotify Mobile integration

Musixmatch, the Italian-British startup that claims to have the world's largest catalog of song lyrics, today announced that it has gone from 7.3 million to 30 million monthly active users in only a year.

And if 308% growth wasn't enough for you, the company also said it has hit a milestone of 50 million app downloads globally, and 5 million daily active users. Its catalog now spans over 12 millions (licensed) lyrics in 58 different languages.

Musixmatch matches users' music libraries and streaming playlists to retrieve and display lyrics, and is today also adding a key feature to its smartphone apps by allowing all (20 million+) Spotify Premium users to connect their account to Musixmatch and play all their music and playlists with the added benefit of lyrics.

In addition, Musixmatch’s users can now use the company’s audio fingerprint Music ID to tag songs from any audio source (radio, TV, etc) and automatically build Spotify playlists.

Back in February Musixmatch already announced a deal with Spotify to integrate its service directly in the Spotify desktop app.
