Airbnb loses its head of Nordics & Netherlands to a fledgling Norwegian car-sharing startup

It appears, according to LinkedIn, that Even Tangen Heggernes, Airbnb's country manager of Nordics and The Netherlands has been tapped by new Norwegian car-sharing startup NaboBil to become their new CEO.

NaboBil only launched last month, but have made quite a splash in Norway so far, in both the local media and the local market, and this latest move will do nothing to quell that.

Even had been at Airbnb for four years, including a stint as Country Manager for the UK and Ireland. His hiring hints at expansion plans for NaboBil to the rest of the Nordic countries, and potentially the rest of Europe beyond that.

Their model is nothing new; it's a pretty standard car-sharing startup, which allows you to lease out your car for money when you are not using it. Interestingly, though, NaboBil take a cut as high as 20% on transactions through their platform.

DN.No reported last month that the company was valued at 10MNOK (approximately €1 million) but with the hiring of Even, someone who is highly experienced in the Nordic sharing economy market, it wouldn't be too assumptive to presume that this is now significantly higher.
