SoundCloud celebrates 135 million tracks and one million albums on its service

SoundCloud has reached a new milestone today, clocking in with more than 135 million tracks and one million albums available on the streaming platform.

The company issued an infographic (below) to celebrate its latest landmark. It now has 175 million listeners each month listening to 12 million artists on average. Around this time last year, it reportedly had around 100 million tracks.

The numbers come fresh off the back of SoundCloud Go, the subscription service launched in the UK and Ireland following an initial US launch but no subscriber numbers have been disclosed yet. Its free service is continuing but is now supported by ads.

SoundCloud hired former NBCUniversal executive Alison Moore earlier this year as its new chief revenue officer to oversee these plans after it signed a deal with Universal Music Group.

With all this movement for the Berlin-based company, it still continues to contend with rumours that it will be acquired; the latest potential suitor being Spotify.
