Fashion ecommerce app 21Buttons raises $10 million Series A round

21Buttons, a fashion ecommerce app based in Barcelona, has raised $10 million in a Series A round led by Kibo Ventures and JME VC with participation from Breega Capital, 360 Capital Partners, Samaipata Ventures, Banc Sabadell Venture Capital, Sputnik, and Mediaset.

Having previously launched in Spain and Italy, the fashion social-commerce app arrived in the UK a few months ago. The new funds will be invested in developing that market and attracting talent. The app allows social media influencers in the fashion space to interact with users to encourage sales of products.

The app was first launched in 2015 and currently has three million registered users and one million monthly active users.

“Influencer marketing is a global trend and top social networks are taking steps to develop its ‘shopability’ potential, such as Instagram with its buy-button implementation, or Pinterest with both its Shop-The-Look tool and Visual Search Engine,” said the company in a statement. Amazon and Google have also moved into space with influencer and fashion image search tools.

“All this movement in 21Buttons' competitive landscape contribute with great certainty to their product-market fit validation and their time-to-market.”
