Amsterdam-based StuDocu raises €1.35 million from Point Nine Capital, Peak to help students study

Amsterdam-based StuDocu, better known in The Netherlands under its original name, StudeerSnel, has scored €1.35 million in seed funding from local VC Peak Capital and Berlin-based Point Nine Capital to expand internationally.

StuDocu is an edtech startup that basically enables students to study faster and more efficiently, by providing them with an online platform on which they can share summaries, past exams and lecture notes. Currently, over 400,000 of a total of approximately 650,000 Dutch students already have an account at StudeerSnel, as the platform offers more than 250,000 documents and two million university exam questions.

StuDocu was started by four friends studying at the Technical University of Delft after they found that study documents were shared inefficiently through email and Facebook groups among their peers.

By creating a place where all those documents could be stored digitally, their solution meant that all students now had permanent access to years’ worth of material and they could easily review each other’s work.

The next step for the company is international expansion and taking the platform beyond basic document sharing to e-learning solutions.
