Swedish audiobook and e-book publisher Storytel has acquired Kontentan, a Swedish publisher of management audiobooks. The acquisition has been made through Storytel's subsidiary Storyside.
The deal is reported to be part of Storytel's focus on providing readily available literature in shorter formats. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price, but it was below Kontentan's turnover in 2016, and paid in cash.
"For many, a management book can feel too long to read. Therefore Kontentan's content is an important feature, where you get the key messages summed up as an audiobook in 40 minutes," said Storytel CEO Jonas Tellander in a statement.
Kontentan was started by Thure Eneroth 1994 and has since built up a catalog of 440 abbreviated management books. During 2016 Kontentan's audiobooks and e-books started to become available to Storytel's customers.
