Belgian IoT startup Rombit announced that it has acquired the digital security company Sercotec, a firm that has been in business for 23 years.
Sercotec's background is installing security solutions in dozens of enterprises in the port of Antwerp. Sercotec's staff will join Rombit, helping to integrate security solutions and install the future product portfolio. With the acquisition, Rombit will now have over 50 employees.
"Their digital products and services are instrumental in enhancing security and efficiency,” commented Jorik Rombouts, founder and CEO of Rombit, in a statement. “Sercotec is an important link for us in the creation of a smart access platform, an integrated solution for access and user monitoring at industrial sites.”
Rombit was founded in 2012, and is an Internet of Things based company offering integrated solutions for smart cities, smart industries and smart enterprises. The company completed a Series A round in 2016.
“We are very pleased with this acquisition,” added Urbain Schelpe, founder and manager of Sercotec, in a statement. "Rombit has the necessary know-how and scale to prepare the extensive IT infrastructure of our customers for the future.”
