Berlin-based startup Fresh Energy, a green electricity provider, raised €3 million in a seed funding round. The investment comes from the energy company Innogy.

The company says it intends to use the new capital to develop its customer base and expand into other European countries, as well as the USA.

Fresh Energy uses an app and a smart meter to help customers save money on electricity. The digital meter keeps track of the electricity consumption throughout the entire household, including appliances like the dishwasher and washing machine. The company is also planning to develop further smart home functionalities with its app.
