This week, our research team tracked almost 80 tech funding deals worth more than €600 million, as well as 20 M&A transactions, rumours, and related news stories across Europe, including Russia, Israel, and Turkey. Meanwhile, here's an overview of the 10 biggest European tech news items for this week:

1) Germany's Delivery Hero is making an giant bet on Asia by acquiring South Korea’s top food delivery app operator Woowa for about $4 billion.

2) wefox Group, the Berlin-based insurtech, has boosted its Series B to $235 million after closing an additional $110 million led by OMERS Ventures, with participation from Merian Chrysalis, Samsung Catalyst Fund, Mundi Ventures and existing investors.

3) Apple has acquired UK-based tech startup Spectral Edge, which uses machine learning to make smartphone pictures crisper, with more accurate colors.

4) Israeli digital adoption company WalkMe has closed a $90 million financing round led by Vitruvian Partners and with the participation of previous investor Insight Partners.

5) Waymo, Google’s self-driving car sibling company, has acquired the Oxford artificial intelligence company Latent Logic for an undisclosed amount, giving Waymo its first presence in the UK.

6) Secure Code Warrior, the global cybersecurity training company with a base in Belgium, has raised a Series B funding round of $47.6 million led by Goldman Sachs. Additional investors include ForgePoint Capital​ and Cisco Investments​, with fresh funding from existing investors Sydney-based AirTree Ventures and US-based Paladin Capital Group.

7) Ada Ventures, a brand new Berlin-based VC firm, has raised $34 million for its first fund, intended for “overlooked founders who are building companies for under-served customer groups.” Inspired by Ada Lovelace, the computer science pioneer in the nineteenth century, the firm aspires to diversity, inclusion, and equal access to capital.

8) Romanian startup FintechOS has secured $14 million in a Series A investment led by the Digital East Fund of Earlybird Venture Capital and OTB Ventures, with participation from existing investors Gapminder Ventures and Launchub.

9) Outsight, the French startup that develops 3D monitoring systems and sensors, has raised $20 million of seed funding, one of the largest seed rounds in Europe in 2019.

10) Tines, the Dublin-based cybersecurity automation startup, has raised an additional $11 million from Accel and Index Ventures, just weeks after securing $4.1 million from Blossom Capital.
