London-based Unmind raises $10 million Series A to bring its mental health platform to the workplace

Unmind, a London-based mental health platform for the workplace, has raised a $10 million Series A round led by Berlin-based Project A, with the support of existing investor Felix Capital. The UK startup has created a digital platform that companies can provide to their teams, as a facet of employee benefits or otherwise. Unmind includes tools and training to encourage mental health, from help with sleep and nutrition to coping with work and life stressors. The content is produced by academics and professionals. While Unmind promotes a proactive, stigma-free approach to mental health, the platform also offers a business approach: “what’s measured is managed.” The app tracks an employee’s mental health through standardised questionnaires, everyday mood diaries, and other tools. Launched in 2016, the company is now supporting employees in more than 50 countries, and over 350,000 people have access to its services. Customers include UK businesses such as John Lewis & Partners, ASOS, Just Eat, British Airways, and Slaughter & May. The startup’s revenue grew by more than 300 percent last year, a trajectory the business plans to maintain. Dr. Nick Taylor, co-founder of Unmind and a clinical psychologist, commented: “This funding will help us to meet growing international demand, offer new services to our users, and further realise our vision of a world where mental health is universally understood, nurtured, and celebrated.”
