Swedish travel tech startup takes new app in its camp to expand across Europe

Stockholm-based marketplace that connects campers with landowners, Acamp is now looking at expanding its operations for the whole European camping community through the acquisition of camping app Ställplatser. The deal comes on the back of its recent funding of €2.5 million from Spintop Ventures, LRF Ventures and Centripetal Capital.

Founded in 2020 by Paul Berggren and Öjje Holt, Acamp is on a mission to makes it easy to advertise, find and book great places to camp. Offering a platform where private and commercial hosts can list unused land and curated experiences for campers to book in the highly active camping market in Sweden and the Nordics, the company is now looking beyond its home turf.

The acquisition of Ställplatser will be an important step to look at the camping sector in Europe. Talking about the recent buy, Öjje Holt, co-founder, Acamp said: “The acquisition of Ställplatser gives us data set of destinations and user behaviour. It’s the perfect step to now introduce us to the whole Nordic market, and to continue our journey towards all of Europe.”

With over 100,000 active users, Ställplatser app functions as an immensely popular community and register for campers and camping hosts, both in and outside the Nordic region.
