Spanish investment fund Leadwind closes with $250 million, surpassing its initial aim. The fund confirms its first five investments in tech and software firms.

Spanish investment fund Leadwind (from K Fund) has announced its final close with commitments up to $250 million. The initial aim was €200 million. Investors included in the gathering are Catalana Occidente, Estrella Galicia, Proeduca Summa, BBVA, Fond-ICO Next Tech and anchor investor Telefónica.

Leadwind’s advisory board, With the likes of Sergio Furio, Pedro Castillo, Pilar Manchón and Nacho Vilela on the advisory board the fund has already confirmed its first five investments - voice modification software company Voicemod, AI-based optimisation platform nFlux, HR platform Factorial (which is K Fund’s first unicorn), medtech platform Quibim and software firm Digibee

Sourcing investment opportunities in Southern Europe and Latin America the firm said, "we would support entrepreneurs from their earliest days until they have scaled their businesses. Surpassing our initial target has reinforced our belief that there is room in Spain for a firm willing to support entrepreneurs from their earliest days through to IPO'.
