European tech community Upscalers raises Pre-Seed funding for angel investing

Today a community of founders, C-level executives, and VPs from leading European scale-ups and unicorns called Upscalers announces the successful closure of its Pre-Seed funding round.

Since 2017, the number of tech employees in Europe has surged from 750,000 to a staggering 2.5 million, with 7.5 percent holding key positions.

Founded in 2021, Upscalers has been building a foundation through a 100-member exclusive community.

Upscalers hosts monthly dinners in six major European cities, establishing a living, breathing cross-border society.

The community also addresses the need for peer support through 6-month core-group cohorts, where members engage in monthly calls to share challenges, learnings, and tactics for professional growth.

Learning is also a key pillar, with exclusive speaker events allowing members to learn directly from top tech figures through intimate conversations.

The initiative is the work of Yoann Benhacoun, CEO, and Timoteo Rouchon, COO and follows two years of bootstrapping. Rouchon leads the angel investment arm, having made 16 investments in Pre-Seed and Seed startups in Europe and the US.

Community members include:

  • Mike Benchimol, former COO of Checkout
  • Divider Caroff, ex VP engineering at Criteo
  • Giovanni Lagasio, Director of Global Ops at Klarna
  •  Alexia Delahousse, GC at  Qonto
  •  Queralt, Barcelona, Chief of Staff at Factorial
  • Ulric Musset, ex Founder of Vauban
  • Akito Suzuki, CFO at Spryker Systems
  • Florent Coudyser, former GM at wetransfer

Upscaler's ticket size ranges from $50k to $250K, with the average check size being $100k+. Female founders make up 40 percent of the portfolio so far.

Today's undisclosed amount was raised from angels in their community and Silicon Valley entrepreneur and investor Caterina Fake, former co-founder of Flickr and board member of Etsy, through her fund yes.vc.

The pre-seed funding will fuel Upscalers' expansion in Europe, with plans for global expansion included the US.

Upscalers has already garnered a waiting list of 776 people, and the platform aims to onboard 500 members gradually by June.
