Nico Rosberg launches new $75M fund

Rosberg Ventures, the VC fund founded by F1 World Champion Nico Rosberg, has launched a $75M fund. Rosberg, who is scouting for ‘Europe’s most entrepreneurial families’, has accrued a portfolio of 35 startups and scaleups so far.

Dubbed ‘a fund of funds’, the pool of capital from LPs and other VCs will be allocated towards a selection of global Tier 1 funds who will reallocate it towards startups within their specialism. Rosberg explained that this allows Rosberg Ventures to support a more diverse range of founders, bolstering the ‘dynamism’ of the firm’s investments.

Nico Rosberg also runs Rosberg X Racing which competes in Extreme E, the all-electric sustainable racing series. He participates in rounds as an angel investors in addition to his VC activities. Companies in his investment portfolio include fintech Hyperline and insurtech Insify.

In 2018, Rosberg co-founded GreenTech Festival, Europe’s largest green innovation platform for change-makers convening finance ministers, CEOs, founders, investors and academics to discuss and shape the future of green technology.

He commented:

”Venture capital is a high-risk asset class but by partnering with those VC firms who are the best in the world at judging emerging businesses and doing so in a diversified manner through several of their funds, we offer investors a stable platform from which to enjoy the transformative opportunities that venture capital creates.”

The fund has closed at $30M so far.
