Amsterdam-based e-commerce platform Orderchamp raises $20 million, seeks to sew up European market

Amsterdam’s wholesale marketplace scaleup Orderchamp has $20 million in a Series A round led by Prime Ventures. Existing investors henQ and several angel investors also participated in the raise.

Independent retailer-friendly Orderchamp is expecting to use the capital to expand the company’s international presence, improve the purchasing experience, and ramp up integrations with commerce systems. “Orderchamp offers both retailers and brands a unique customer experience. We are very impressed with Orderchamp's team, its explosive growth, and high customer retention. Orderchamp solves a big problem for both customer groups,” comments Prime Ventures’ Thijs Emondts.

Founded at the beginning of 2019 by Dennis Cuijpers, Joost Brugmans, Max Verduyn, Menno Wolvers, and Ruud Stelder, Orderchamp is currently active in The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, and Luxembourg, and is a wholesale marketplace, facilitating the discovery and purchase of items between brands and retailers.

The e-commerce platform counts over 1,800 brands actively selling, and 30,000+ retailers buying. Orderchamp offers attractive terms for independent retailers including low order minimums, 2-month payment terms, and the now-defacto free shipping.

“Our retailers visit our platform several times a week to source unique products for their store or webshop. That is why we pursue adding dozens of new brands daily rather than weekly, which retailers can purchase quickly and easily,” explains CEO Joost Brugmans.

And Orderchamp isn’t selling just any old stuff, brands represented on the platform must meet specific criteria, ensuring quality control. Likewise, because of these criteria, Orderchamp’s algorithm is able to provide user-specific product recommendations, resulting in a diversified, yet on brand, product range per retailer.

“Based on previous sales data of tens of thousands of retailers, we can better predict whether a product will sell in that particular store. This way, our stores can continue to stand out from the crowd and strengthen local retail,” adds Brugmans.
