Amsterdam-based Startupbootcamp launches Startupbootcamp: Sustainability in second IPO

Launching today, Amsterdam-based Startupbootcamp is going live with their second IPO. And not just any IPO, one that will be put towards accelerating 30 sustainable startups in order to progress towards the UN’s sustainable development goals.

This launch comes off the back of being awarded the One Single Hub subsidy by the Dutch government in early February.

In a recent briefing to UN member states, Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stated, “The world remains way off target in staying within the 1.5-degree limit of the Paris Agreement. This is why we need more ambition, more ambition on mitigation, ambition on adaptation and ambition on finance.”

While big business might not be moving at the speed of light on this, the global green tech and sustainability market is forecasted to more than triple in the next four years, $11.2 billion in 2020, $33.6 billion in 2025.

And by its inherent nature, the agile startup industry is leading the charge, with rapid growth being demonstrated in regards to sustainable development, with a dramatic increase being seen in impact investing. Growing 42% from 2019 to 2020, impact investing accounted for $715 billion. And yet, 64% of all asset owners point to lack of data when it comes to their investment making decisions. 🤔

To this end, Startupbootcamp is aiming to make it safer for investors to jump into the impact sector via Startupbootcamp: Sustainability. The plan is to use AI tech to seek out and select startups and scaleups that focus on environmental, social and economic issues, and de-risk them through leveraging their global network as well as the refined training programme.
