Belgian smart parking startup CommuniThings lands €3 million from Orange and others

Smart parking IoT startup CommuniThings has raised €3 million in funding from Orange Belgium, Finance.Brussels, and Essex Innovation. The telco also plans to enter into a long-term partnership with the startup “to commercialise CommuniThings’ smart parking solutions across Belgium,” it stated in a press release.

CommuniThings' solutions are based on a rollout of sensors that use low-power connectivity technologies like NB-IoT, LTE-M, and LoRaWAN. The first two are already covering 100% of the Belgian territory.

The product includes parking guidance via a mobile app for drivers, as well as real-time alerts of parking violations delivered to controllers. CommuniThings has projects running across Belgium in Brussels, Liege, St-Ghislain, Aarschot, Asse, and Deerlijk.
